The first time she got a lash lift service was at our salon, she loved it!
The second time she got a lash lift service was at another salon, she wasn’t happy.
She described it as “messy and uncomfortable”.
She wasn’t able to wear any mascara, since her natural lashes were clumped together and if she did, the “clumps” were more noticeable.
What possibly went wrong during her appointment at the other salon?
Lash lift is much less complicated than eyelash extensions. Less after maintenance care as well. However, as a professional, we should still consider that each client’s need are different and should be customized as well.
How to determine what’s best for the client during a lash lift service?
What exactly is a lash lift?
It is basically a lash perming service. What’s the difference? A perm is when we use a rod to curl the natural lashes and a lash lift and when we use a silicone pad and just lift the base of the natural lashes to give it a a slight natural curl. Results are very different than using a lash curler.
A lash lift does not add thickness nor length to your natural lashes. But since we are lifting the base of the natural lashes, it opens up our eyes and it gives the illusion that our natural lashes actually appear longer. Looking back to the lash correction picture, as you can see instead of adding length to the natural lashes, since the service wasn’t properly executed, it made her natural lashes appear much shorter. After the correction, you can see how they look much longer and less messy.
A lash lift can last between 6-8 weeks more or less, depending on your natural lash cycle.
If you naturally have curly lashes, lash lift can be something you want to consider instead of getting an eyelash extensions.

When you show me a picture you saw somewhere online and wanting us to reproduce exactly like it… If you knew what I’m thinking, you would probably be offended and walk out of the salon right away. Because I’m thinking “hmmm you’ll need plastic surgery”
Everyone’s eye shape is unique. Everyone’s natural lashes are also different.
You can tell me how much you love this beautiful set of eye-cat look on this person, but we might not recommend it to you, because you don’t share the same eye shape type.
What looks good on your sister, doesn’t necessarily will look as great on you. This is the reason why we call it customizing.
At your appointment, we ask you several questions such as what type of look are you looking for? What is your make-up routine? Then we look at the thickness, length and fullness of your natural lashes. Where does your eyebrows sit compare to your eyes. How is your eye shape? All our clients have a unique customized set according to their face.
Of course, if you insist you want a cat-eye look (even though we tried convincing you that it might make your eyes look droopy) we will give you the cat-eye look.
We are eyelash extensions technicians, not magicians nor surgeons. We work with your natural lashes. We try our best to give you the result you wish for. If the result of your first appointment isn’t exactly what you were hoping for, at your refill appointment we can always change it up.
Extensions isn’t a permanent procedure.
If you are unhappy with the result, talk to your technician. Explain to her what is it that you don’t like about it and what is it you are looking more for, they will have a more in-depth understanding. Unfortunately everyone have a different conception of what’s “natural looking” versus “dramatic looking”.
As long you are not asking for the impossible; such as the strip lashes look when you only have a few tiny weak natural lashes. Anything that isn’t harmful and is hygienic to your lashes, I am sure your technician is more than happy to help you achieve the look that’ll make your eyes pop!
Majority of us in this lash industry, take pride to our work. We love what we do and we love it even more when you love your lashes!

]]>As a technician, we also try to offer the best service at a reasonable price. Quality, location and comfort.
Recently, we have getting an incredible amount of emails and phone calls for poor applications from other technicians.
It’s summer, everyone is getting their lashes, finding great deals online. I saw as little as $20 a full-set. That doesn’t even cover the cost of the material, let alone the cleaning products, rent, hydro, internet, phone bills and insurance.
I contacted the minitère du santé de Canada, unfortunately the respond that I received from them was “For your concerns regarding poor practices of some technicians, Health Canada regulates cosmetics products; it does not regulate the services that involve the use of cosmetics.”
The only thing I can say is, please please please be more vigilant when choosing a lash technician/salon. And for those technicians with poor practices, please educate yourself. My motto is “you gotta spend money to make money!” Quality control, enrich your knowledge, hygiene and security.
Wake up pretty!

Damaging our natural lashes is certainly the biggest concern for majority of the people who are getting eyelash extensions.
What are the causes? When eyelash extensions aren’t properly applied by a technician and the lack of hygienic care from ourselves, are usually the reasons.
Always try to make sure you do enough researches on the technician or the salon where you are going to book an appointment with. Unfortunately not all technicians are properly trained/certified. Lash extensions that aren’t properly applied can cause irritation, pain, clogged pores which leads to inflammation and infection and also premature lash shedding or permanent lost of lashes.
A set of lash extensions should not be painful and should be able to comb through it with ease with a mascara brush.
Hygiene is also an essential daily routine that nobody should skip. Getting eyelash extensions applied is just half the work from technicians, to keep our lashes clean and nice is our daily responsibility. Unhygienic lashes from make-up residues and natural oils can cause build ups which clogs our pores. Lash mite growth. Premature lash shedding leading to possibility of permanent lost of lashes.
If you are unsure how to keep those lashes clean, you can ask your technicians for tips.
We recommend you use a non-oily based foam cleanser.
If you wish to try our lash cleanser or buy a brush, you can contact us by email [email protected] or drop by our lash studio Monday to Saturday 11am-6pm

As we know there are so many brands in the industry, how do we know which glue works the best?
The main ingredients in all glue are more or less the same, the difference can be the percentage of each ingredient. Each country also have their own regulation. The safest way is to ask for the MDMS of the glue from your supplier and contact your area’s health department.
Although the glue should not be touching the client’s eyelids, I ALWAYS recommend we do a patch test (behind the earlobe). We carry 5 types of glues at the studio. Although this is a very rare case for majority of the salons to have so many different types of glue, but you should at least carry 2 types of glue.
As a beginner lash tech, you might start with a glue that has a slow drying process. With much more experience and practices you will start realizing that your work pace and the glue drying time do not match anymore. Isolation is nice, perfect amount of glue yet the extensions are frequently stuck together. This probably means you are ready to start using a faster drying process glue.
Do take note that the faster the drying process, the lower the humidity should remain in the lashing area.
Every glue works differently for each lash tech. Depending on your pace, the humidity in the room and how fresh is the bottle of glue.
Remember that every time you open the bottle for a drop of glue, air bubbles goes in. The more you use it, the sooner you need to open a brand new bottle of glue. Many of the technicians try to use the bottle of glue as long as possible, which is a BIG NO NO. This can lead to many unpleasant situations. A spoiled bottle of glue can cause allergy reaction or glue not curing properly, so the extensions fall off must sooner than they normally would.
Remember to shake rigorously to mix the ingredients well before putting a small drop of glue on your jade or crystal stone. Use a new drop of glue every now and then, you will notice how smooth the application will be.
Don’t forget to store the glues properly when not in use.
If you wish to purchase a glue from us, we will help you to find the perfect glue for you. Please inquire at [email protected]
